Ristorante Berton

Gourmet restaurant

Milan - Italy
2013

Ristorante Berton is a gourmet restaurant reflecting the Chef Andrea Berton’s personality and philosophy. It’s located in the neighbourhood of Porta Nuova Varesine, the futuristic Hines urban project, which enshrines the foundation of Berton’s cuisine.

The austere architectural design has been toned down by certain components such as the materials, paper, wood, cement and metal, the structure and the colour choice of light grey tones. These elements favour sobriety and elegance and they create a refined atmosphere, focusing on simplicity without foregoing the element of surprise. Vudafieri-Saverino Partners has therefore decided to make the natural light the protagonist of the dining room: the large windows that look onto the pedestrian promenade have been only partially covered by parchment panels, allowing the exterior to be seen during the day while guaranteeing privacy on the interior and maintaining the necessary degree of brightness.

The architects have created an original element of surprise that captures one’s attention in the dining room, a kind of séparée, with a table that goes from the dining room into the kitchen interrupted by a frosted glass panel. An evolution of the classic ‘chef’s table’ for a ‘site-specific’ gastronomic experience flavoured with a pinch of originality.
