Shanghai Moon Watch

A set of four one hand watches

2015

Yann Debelle de Montby, Tiziano Vudafieri and Claudio Saverino designed the Shanghai Moons Tourbillon Watches, a set of four one hand watches. The designers combined Chinese knowledge and Wester, bringing elements of the Art and Design world to the Horological world.

Each watch features a different face of the moon on an hand-etched clock face. The design is based on NASA moon photographs - full moon, first quarter, last quarter and new moon.

The Shanghai Moon Watches only carry a hand painted red steel hour hand as a reflexion on our relationship with the Time. The watch talks beautifully about the luxury of not being obsessed with the minute-punctuality.

This mechanical watch collection is all about magic and dream, through the single-minded, endless, dreamy pursuit of precision of its mechanism and its tribute to the ever inspiring powerful and mysterious Moon. The advanced tourbillon mechanism is handmade and manufactured by Heng Bao. This “Object of Curiosity” is inspired by the designers’ childhood universe. Boys who, like Saint Exupéry’s Little Prince, dreams about coming from an outer planet, and keeps looking for answers through the sky, the clouds and of course the most mysterious, the most fascinating, and sometimes difficult to catch .. the Moon.
