FAMILY RESORT SICILY

5* Falkensteiner family resort, Licata, Sicily
- Ongoing

Our concept for the Falkensteiner Sicily Family Resort reinterprets Mediterranean identity through a contemporary lens, translating traditional elements into an essential, functional architectural language.

The project’s massing is organized into three primary clusters: a central hub hosting the main services, the SPA, and guest rooms; an area dedicated to private villas with individual pools; and the beach club. The programmatic layout is designed to mediate between vibrant social spaces and the quiet privacy of individual retreats, ensuring a constant visual dialogue with the surrounding landscape.

The material palette is deeply rooted in the local context, centered on lime plaster, sandstone, and wood—materials chosen for their authentic response to the Mediterranean light. A predominantly neutral tonal base is punctuated by strategic chromatic accents—tomato red, orange, and lemon yellow—drawing directly from the island’s botanical and visual heritage. This narrative continues in the children’s areas, such as Falkyland, which are conceived as immersive discovery paths linked to the site’s history and natural environment.

We envisioned the architecture as a measured intervention that integrates the landscape as a structural component of the design. The objective is to offer a site-specific experience where the built environment acts as a bridge between the guest and the authentic character of the territory.
